Project Description

Offshore Oil Platform Jacket, 120m high comprising large diameter tubular members which connect into nodes on complex three slope and sometimes offset intersections, all welded with full penetration groove welds. The 24 piles comprised 2m diameter tubes, 75mm thick and 132m long, each with a mass of 500 tons.

Project Specification

• Intensive research on jackets, shop detailing, programming of CNC machines for cutting the ends of tubulars (all by DSE), fabrication (shared Genrec, Dorbyl Heavy Engineering), assembly and erection at Saldanha to load out (Genrec) onto a barge which transported the whole jacket to Mossel Bay.
